School Website!

Guess what I found in my web crawling today.. the website of Holy Angels, Salem!

Ha! Holy Angels is having its own website!
Hurrah!! Three cheers for who ever created it!
Hip Hip Hurrah!!
Hip Hip Hurrah!!
Hip Hip Hurrah!!

I had wished so long for a website and I remember talking to one of our teachers when I visited school long time ago. And finally its there on the web - the exclusive website for Holy Angels Matric High Sec School!
It was indeed an exhilarating feeling to check out the website and browse through its pages.

The memories I have, are very different from the present outlook of the school and it's a bit difficult to adjust to the pictures of the new environment of the school.

As soon as one opens the web page, the photo of the main entrance gates and the guardian angels welcomes the browser (a little more on the guardian angels click here ). Black granite blocks decorate the compound walls of the gate and golden curly letters Holy Angels is etched upon the granite.

As the photos change I am little surprised and taken aback. I had to double check if I was looking at the students of Holy Angels or that of Cluny school.

Girls were wearing red skirts! OH! What happened to the lovely checkered green and white uniforms?

I did like those green checkered skirts! And I stil have a set safly stashed in my cupboard back at home. hmm.. a big change indeed! Also the paint on the school walls have a tint of red!!

There are pictures of the school grounds with the stages, the assembly of high school and small school (I spot the birthday kids standing in the corner of the stage in front of the assembly.. so the tradition lives on! :) ), the bust of Mother Marie St.Claire (this is new!), the grotto of Mother Mary as She patiently stands witness to all the children passing year after year, and a tree planted by the Scientist and country's Ex.President Dr. Abdul Kalam.

As I browsed, my interest went towards checking out the school photos.
The infrastructure section has some photos of the labs - Computer, Biology, Physics and Chemistry. And then who do I spot there!
Its Mrs.Janet!
The iconic physics teacher! (I cant help myself from asking this.... Is she posing there?! :D Oops I could freak her out if she happens to read this !)

I could see the Library also! Thats interesting! I don't remember using the library regularly during the school days, as Sr. Angela had it under lock and key!
She was scared that we would become book worms!
But late Sr. Jacob was more benevolent with the library usage. And I loved the school library! It had such a wonderful smell of old books and so much light from the many windows of that room!

And one more thing that I spoted in the photos was that the girls were all wearing their hair in a single plait! Wow! thats an improvement! We had to wear two plaits and had to have it folded too with white ribbons!
Eecks I know! those were some tough times!

Then there is the picture of the current Principal in her office.
Sigh! What flashes in my mind is Sr. Angela sitting majestically in there.
But the room looks very differnt now. There are more sheilds and medals. During Sisters time, there was only a cross and some real flowers upon the table and a few cupboards in the corner of the room. May be this is a different room.

And there are photos of students too.. Teeny weeny group photos not sure if any one will be able to identify anyone's face in there.
But what is this.. the girls are wearing salwars suits? what happened to the skirts!
hmm...changing times!
Should I write an ode to the lost green skirts of the convent!?

And then there are photos of teachers !
How I wish the photos were zoomable to see who is in there more clearly!

I should say I got goose bumps browsing through the pages, as I remembered walking those hallowed grounds years ago.

I love you Holy Angels!
You took me into your loving arms and made me into what I am..
I love you Sr. Angela and All my dear teachers - Miss Saraswati, Mrs. Padma Shankar, Mrs Thangam Jacob, Mrs. Sundari Jason, Mrs. Gayathri, Mrs Mini Pillai, Mrs.Janet, Mrs. Jyothi, Mrs. Sowndaram, Mrs. Premraj, Mrs. Jecintha Michelle, Mrs. Patience, Mrs. Bournes, and Mrs.Lalitha David and all the unknown angels whose name might have slipped my memory as I passed by the school years.
